Gamtel’s Coach Sulayman Kuyateh has been awarded the GFF First Division League manager of the month of December, while Ousman Drammen, the coach of the second Division table-toppers, BK Milan, received the award for the second Division manager of the month.
Both managers received their respective awards last weekend ahead their teams triumphing victories over Bombada and Immigration respectively. The awards were in recognition of the performances of the teams led by both managers in the First and second, where both sitting on top the piles.
Kuyateh, whose award was his second in succession, led Gamtel to the summit of the First Division league playing some brilliant attacking football despite having the meanest and the best defence in the league with an unbeaten record thus far. The former Brikama United coach, who was presented his accolade by Alhagie Marong, NT Goalkeeper Trainer, can be credited for his team’s fortunes this time around, having turned things around for the former league champions, who were in mid-table at the same stage last season and ended up in a relegation battle. Since taking over, he has managed to restore the much needed confidence of the Telecom boys and they are currently playing their best football since the departure LISCR FC’s Tapha Manneh from the club.
Ousman Drammeh, whose award was presented to him by the president of The Gambia Football Coaches’ Association, Pa Suwareh Faye, has led BK Milan to get over their disappointment from last season, where they were beaten to promotion by Fortune FC in the play-offs, and he has been recognised for his part in taking them to the top of the current Second Division League table on goal difference , ahead of second place Wallidan. And after receiving his accolade, he has thanked his players and the technical staff for their contribution. And the team has reciprocated that appreciative comment with yet another victory after thumping Immigration 3-0 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, with the goals from Sarjo Sonko, who scored a brace and the prolific Sankou Nyan. Gamtel also gave their coach, Kuyateh a double cause for celebration having thrashed Bombada 4-0 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, with the goals Adama Jarju, Modou Sarr and a brace from Baboucarr Jallow.
The GFF Monthly Awards, endorsed by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo, was established as a source of motivation and to inspire excellence and the coaches and players have responded to ensure that standards have improved across the board.
