The Congolese side took the lead in the early part of the game through their Ghanaian striker Daniel Nii Adjei in the 19th minute, who headed in tge opener before completing his brace in the 45th minute with his second of the evening to give them a two goal cushion but Iheb Msakni pulled one back for Sahel just on the stroke of half time to keep their hopes alive.

But the second half was much less eventful as both teams failed to take full of control the game. The visitors had several dangerous chances towards the end of the game; however, they failed to convert them into goals.

This year’s final was the 24th annual CAF Super Cup organised the Confederation of African Football (CAF), between the winners of the previous season’s two CAF club competitions, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

TP Mazembe, who are also known as Les Corbeaux, or The Ravens were the winners of 2015 CAF Champions League for a fifth time and Saturday’s CAF Super Cup victory is their third, having clinched the trophy in 2010 and 2011. Their opponents Etoile du Sahel were the winners of the CAF Confederation Cup last season. They are considered one of the best clubs in Tunisia and they alongside Italian giants Juventus F.C, are the only two clubs in the World football to have won all  club competitions organized by their respective confederation and the only one to have won all African competitions.

The victory by TP Mazembe capped a fantastic two month for Congolese football following their CHAN national team’s victory earlier this month in the African Nations Championship – a competition reserved for home-based players, which was held in Rwanda and the Congo team thumped Mali 3 – 0 in the final to win the Cup for the second time.

Infact several Mazembe stars, including skipper Joel Kimwaki and striker Jonathan Bolingi, were part of the side that deservedly won the trophy and were rewarded for their exploits by the country’s president with brand-new 4×4 cars.
